Recommendations

Recommendations:

  • Mice:  I highly recommend the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer optical mouse. It's a highly accurate mouse that feels great in the hands.  Make sure you get version 3.0a or 4.0 (whichever you prefer - I actually prefer the feel of the 3.0a) to get the one with the greatest accuracy.  Most retail stores should have the most recent version.
  • Keyboards: For keyboards, consider a natural keyboard.  Give it a try for a week or two. If you type often, you'll come to love the "natural" design.  In general, I recommend Microsoft's inexpensive Natural Keyboard Elite, but Logitech also makes great keyboards. Some people like the keyboards with all the extra buttons on them, but to me, that's what hot keys are for!  :)
  • Wireless:  Logitech's wireless suite is excellent for the desktop (Cordless Duo MX) as is Microsoft's (Wireless Optical Desktop Pro). If you want a wireless combo for a home theater PC (for use from the couch), I'd suggest the Gyration Ultra suite.  It has a very cool mouse that can be used in the air, on your pants leg, or on a desk.
I personally prefer corded mice (because they're smaller, don't waste batteries, and won't slide off a slanted desk), but if you want just a wireless mouse, get the Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0.
