  1. My current number one pick is the Canon i960, which I believe has the best photo print quality of any inkjet printer out there (except for one which is listed as #4 here, but it's 3 times the cost).  After a lot of research and testing, I decided on the i950 as my personal printer (that's the old version of the i960 and still a good choice).  It prints photos quickly, it's quiet, and it also has a significantly lower cost per print than the HP listed below.
  2. The HP PhotoSmart 7550 is also a great choice. This was my second choice when choosing printers. In addition to great quality photos, its text and graphics quality may actually surpass the Canon's, but considering that the text and graphics quality of most of today's inkjet printers are all pretty good, the possible differences between the HP and Canon are going to be very difficult to see. This HP printer also adds a handy flash memory card reader (just plug it in from your digital camera and print without even using your computer).  This printer is a little louder and has a higher cost per print than the Canon above.  A newer printer to consider is HP's PhotoSmart 7960 which can be found for just over $250.  I don't personally have much experience with it yet though.
  3. Looking for a cheaper printer? The HP Deskjet 5550 should be a good choice, at less than $100.  Other good options include Epson's Stylus C82 (for general printing with occasional photos) and Epson's Stylus Photo 820 (if photos are your main interest).
  4. The Epson Stylus Photo 2200 has exceptional photo print quality, but it also costs about $699 (MSRP).
